Where is St. Thomas?
Most people don’t know exactly where it is…so we thought we’d help clear that up. St. Thomas is an island in the Caribbean Sea and with the islands of Saint John, Saint Croix, and Water Island the newest of the four Islands to comprise the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI), an unincorporated territory of the United States.
St. Thomas is in the U.S. Virgin Islands and is just east of Puerto Rico and Haiti. St. Thomas is located just off the south eastern coast of Florida. St. Thomas of the U.S. Virgin Islands is located in the eastern Caribbean, just a mere 1100 miles southeast of Miami. You heard me…it’s not far at all from South Florida. Which makes it quite convenient to get to if you live in the United States for sure with easy connections out of MIA (Miami International Airport) of FLL (Fort Lauderdale International Airport)
Today tourism is the primary economic activity, accounting for 80% of GDP and employment. The islands normally host 2 million visitors a year, many of whom visit on cruise ships.
