The Gov Says Give me the money now.

The Governor vetoed 22 out of 30 provisions in a law to match federal disaster funds. He killed 1.8 million dollars of projects the senators added to the bill including $15,000 for plaques to honor people. $50,000 on walkways in western cemetery, or $350,000 for tarps on the St. Croix ballpark and stadium.

Press Conference

At his press conference today, he said Give me the money now. He says he is fed up with FEMA and their paperwork and he wants the funds. Sounds like all the rest of us. He announced he is hiring three new consultants to cultivate new businesses. He also said that Water Island would get infrastructure reconstruction based on 3.5 million of Dept of Interior’s funds.

Handicapped Access

Do we have open access for the handicapped? The Wheelchair Warriors say NO. The want equal access to places in Christiansted like downtown businesses, the Lieutenant Gov’s office and the Federal Building – all lack access ramps.

Computers Back at Library

The computers are back on the job at the Florence Williams library. And other libraries are getting fixed. The water works in the Library for the Visually and Physically Disabled, even though its ramp is a target of the Wheelchair Warriors.

Public Works in St. Croix

Public works is racing to fix a collapsed sewer line east of Figtree station St. Croix. They expect to have it fixed by tomorrow evening.
