We Won a Prize
Our Public Relations firm, Martin PR won a prize the 13th Annual Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition with a video called Pictures of Paradise: The United Stated Virgin Islands. The judges called our 12 minute video fun and appealing. The video featured music by Rising Stars, Stanley and the 10 Sleepless Knights, and our gorgeous beaches and vistas. Our video beat 940 other entries.

Senate President Lorraine Berry has called a session of the Committee of the whole for this evening at 6:00 PM – to consider amendments to the official zoning map for seven sites. New Phone Gear
The Legislature building has a new phone exchange, 693, and Senator Liburd called to say his new phone number is 693-3670. The Legislature has also added a new service that will allow the hearing impaired to communicate with the legislature. The TTY/TDD device is part of the legislature^“s effort to come into compliance with the American^“s with Disabilities Act.
Castle Burke Housing Approved
Acting on behalf of Governor Schneider, Lieutenant Governor Mapp signed into law bill 22-033 which grants residents of Castle Burke the option to purchase land in the park or build their own home there. Saying that home ownership breeds pride and self worth and a sense of accomplishment, Mapp said He and the Governor agree that this program is very important for the Castle Burke residents.

Delegate Dr Donna Christian-Green announced that the police Dept. has been approved for another round of Community Oriented Policing Services grants for new technology and backup staff. The grant of $698,683 is an increase of $400,000 over last years grant.
Clinton: Fix the Jobs Problem in Northern Marianas
President Clinton wrote to the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas to inform them that they have too many resident aliens with jobs and too few local residents without work. He has decided not to extend America^“s immigration, and naturalization laws to the Northern Marianas.
New Badges
Police Commissioner Ramon Davila awarded new badges to five inspectors who have completed the motor carrier safety assistant program. The Inspectors are Gloria Singho and Uston Cornelius of St. Croix, and Shawn Perez, Curt Lake and Annette Etienne of St. Thomas.
