Compulsory Insurance for Car Owners May become the Law

Acting Governor Mapp has proposed legislation to make car insurance mandatory. The proposed law would require car owners to have a liability policy with a minimum amount of coverage under the regulatory power of the Lt. Governorís office. The proposed law would also call for the adoption of a point system for bad drivers with repeated moving violations. Enough points and your insurance premium would increase and youíd have to go to driving class. Good drivers would get a discount on their insurance. All funds generated by the law would go to our police for law enforcement needs. There is also a litigation cap to keep lawsuits to a minimum.

It also catches us up with all 50 states that have such laws on their books.
