Today is the Budget Summit
It is unprecedented meeting. 25 leaders of the community, all the elected officials of the Territory and the heads of departments, labor leaders, heads of the chambers of commerce. They are all coming together today in a one day summit to seek solutions to the Territories financial crisis. They are meeting today at Renaissance Grand Beach Resort. All parties are talking about compromise and the need for resolution and lots of work after the summit. We’ll keep you posted.

The Schools are Mostly Open without Problems
No matter how much work is done over the summer, there is always some work to be done after school starts. The Gladys Gabriel school is still closed though the Department of Education says they will have it ready soon, and Addelita Cancryn Junior High School still has problems that the teachers union raised. The rest of the schools seem to be doing fine with a few problems to resolve.
DeChabert will Get Recreation Center
The budget may be tight and the resources limited but the Governor Schneider is saying to residents of Ralph DeChabert housing community that there will be a recreation center there. The Governor had Public Works officials in tow to take notes on what to fix up, what to clean up and where to built new facilities at the housing community.
Airport Paving Disrupts Traffic
Drivers around the Rholsen Airport are reminded that the repaving around the front of the terminal building will keep cars from having access to the front of the terminal. The repaving work is expected to take through the end of November.

Coral Bay Parade
You have to be from a smaller island to really appreciate the parade in Coral Bay. The annual labor day festival in Coral Bay St. John drew several hundred people, one Mocko Jumbie, a half dozen entries in the parade and the prince and princess who trekked the parade route with an umbrella. Yet all reports have it that the community in and around Coral Bay is brought together by the event like a family drawing in its children from all around.
Water Island Report
Alex got a digital camera. As soon as he figures it out, the Water Island Page will get some new photos. Maybe even a good news photo per day. We’ll see.
