 That Storm is Over, Bertha is History

The best news is that Hurricane Bertha is gone. A quick review of the damage reveals that Bertha was no Hugo or Marilyn. That’s good news. Bertha is on the way to the Bahamas as a category 3 hurricane. In politics, they have New Hampshire primaries, in storms, we have the Virgin Islands to take the storm first and tell America what to expect.

Red Cross Help Coming

Vinnie Mohannani says Bertha should remind you that you need a full stock of life support supplies. Thrifty has a supply of batteries, flashlights and radio’s. Go help Vinnie sell them all. If you need assistance, Red Cross is ready to help. National Red Cross authorities are on the way. If you have time, Red Cross needs volunteers if you have time on your hands, please call Red Cross to help.

Price Freeze

The Governor has announced that there is a price freeze in effect so there will be no price gouging on necessary supplies.

All Airlines Flying

The Airport will open today. American Airlines will have normal operations today with a 1 PM departure. American Eagle is flying today at 2 PM. Delta will also by flying today.

Picking Up

Most businesses are picking up the pieces and cleaning up. Government employees have today to pick up and assess the damage. Vitel cellular is open as of noon today. AT&T employees are to report to work today at noon. The parks are closed.

Flag Contest

Virgin Islands Cultural Heritage Institute is holding a contest for the flag that will hang at the entrance of this years Folklife festival. If you have a flag idea draw it on paper, no larger than 11X 17 and bring it to the Cultural Heritage Institute by July 15th.

Water Meters

By October all water haulers must have a meter on their trucks to measure the volume of water they deliver. Water Truckers we a’rewarning you early, you have until October to get the meters, and consumers, you can expect an accurate report on water deliveries beginning then.

On Today’s Calendar:

  • Addelita Cancryn Junior High School Year book buyers. You can pick up your yearbooks on the 8th and 9th. Bring your receipt.
  • Tomorrow: Social Security Representatives will be in the St. John multipurpose room from 9 to 12:45 to help with Social Security problems and questions.

Liburd to Speak

Finally this, Senator Liburd has good news. He’s been invited to be a speaker at the Council of State Government’s annual meeting in Princeton NJ from the 14th to the 18th. He will be part of a panel on Legislative Ethics. That’s our Legislative President making good news.
