Governor Schneider Signs Contracts – Off to Washington DC
The Governor is in Washington DC with other governors of the United States. He is meetings with the other governors, White House staff, HUD and FEMA. Before he left, the Governor signed a 3 million dollar contract to provide nurses, midwives and licensed practical nurses for the hospital. He also signed contracts for the air conditioning at the hospital. He also signed contracts for the Horace Clarke Tennis Courts on St. Croix, the Bordeaux tennis court will get work, and so will estate Humbug basketball court.

Dept. of Public Works s re-paving on St. Thomas
Have you tried driving on Maud Proudfoot drive or on the repaved Havensight road. Dept. of Public Works is doing a tremendous job of repaving some of the most unpleasant roads on St. Thomas and they are at it again.
Motorists are asked to please stay off of centerline road from first avenue to Mandela circle today after 7:00 PM, Dept. of Public Works is repaving the road past VITRACO Mall to the Circle. Please give the workers room. Use another route. Route 73 on St. Croix is going to be closed from the Mon Bijou traffic light to Little Mon Bijou while public works installs a new sewer line.
Senate Today:
Senate Committee on Youth and Human Services is meeting in the Legislative Conference Room St. Croix. They have amendments to Virgin Islands Code regarding Child support enforcement.
Emancipation 150 Commemoration Commission Needs Money
The Emancipation 150 Commemoration Commission has no funds to develop the celebration of the 150th anniversary of emancipation. No government appropriations have been made so far and the corporate donors, Hess and the Virgin Islands Rum Industries have been paying the costs of planning. There is a debate over the scope of the celebration and how much money is enough.
St. John Treatment Plant Emergency
The Governor declared a state of emergency in Cruz Bay St. John regarding the sewage treatment plant. The emergency will permit Public Works to hire a contractor immediately to build a new sewage treatment plant for Cruz Bay.

Newman Jr. of Washington DC speaking on the Good Samaritan. All Lions are invited. Coming Up Tomorrow: Arts Alive is bringing back one of the top performers from last year.
