Sunshine Air Is Still Looking For Those Passengers

Sunshine Air says they are surprised the Coast Guard stopped looking for two passengers lost in Saturday’s crash. Sunshine Air is continuing the search for two passengers lost in Saturday evening’s crash. They say survivors are often found days after a crash, they are still looking.

WAPA Sale – No Special “Deal”

Senator Berry raised questions about the proposed sale of WAPA. She’s surprised by the Governor’s high handedness. She says no sweetheart deal with one buyer. Later in the day yesterday the irate Governor said the proposed sale is an open process and there’s no sweetheart anything.

Senate Not Asked About Changes to Organic Act.

Berry also expressed concern with the Governor’s handling of the changes to the Organic Act. She thinks the Senate should have voted on resolutions of support for the changes in our borrowing power, and the governor’s powers while off-island. She doesn’t’t object to the changes, only the manner in which they were initiated.

Raven Symone Visits Governor

The Governor welcomed Raven Symone to Government House on Monday after her appearance at the Dollar-A-Thon fund raiser for Aisha Smith. Symone is in town in between taping of her TV Show, Handing with Mr. Cooper.

VITALL Has Moved

VITALL has moved. The Association for Independent Living has moved to new quarters at #6 Seventh Street Estate Thomas. New phone number too 777-4978.

Anti-Drug Grant

Good news from Virgin Islands Dept. of Education, they’ve received a grant of $300,000 for drug and alcohol prevention training. The funds are available from the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act State Grant program. That’s 300,000 to combat drug use in our schools. .

Fire Service Class

A group of Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco federal agents are in St. Thomas to teach a seminar on fire detection, fire safety, and arson investigation. They are on St. Thomas today and they offer the class on St. Croix Thursday and Friday. 30 of our fire fighters, arson investigators, and police detectives are taking the class.

Night Games in Anna’s Retreat

Roosevelt David says Anna’s Retreat lighting in the basketball is good news. Dept. Housing Parks and Recreation gets kudos for their swift work putting in the lights. Now night games are now possible in Anna’s Retreat basketball court.

Walls Get Clean Up

Have you seen the wall on the way to left hand side on your way into Fort Mylner? Austin Petersen is cleaning and repainting the wall and that should make it look better.

Call for St. John Fire Volunteers

Calling All St. Johnians who want to help fight future fires, Your chance is coming. Chief Sydney Challenger is calling for volunteers to join a volunteer fire brigade. You”ll get training too.

Official Street Map is Out

The Official Virgin Islands Street map is now available. Public Works announced that the official road map is out and available at their Anna’s Hope Complex on St. Croix or at the offices in Subbase St. Thomas. Try not to get lost going to the office to get the map.
