We have Five Entrepreneurial Women in the National Contest
The Virgin Islands Federation of Business and Professional Women was seeking women candidates for the Avon Women of Enterprise Awards. State President Fern LaBorde announced the five women entrepreneurs from the Virgin Islands who are going to be our nominees for the national award, they are Lorna Webster of Private Collections, Judi Nagelberg of Island Meetings and Incentives, Lorraine Baa of Athlete’s Foot, Rosemary Sauter of Rosemary Sauter and Associates and Latifah Chinnery-Nadir of Education Station. They will be in a competition involving candidates from 53 states and territories.
Clinton Update
The UPI reports the President is coming here because of the recommendation of the Vice President and that he is staying where the VP stayed. Dr Donna Christian Green is quoted saying “Everyone loves President Clinton in the Virgin Islands” Dr Green also says the President has no plans for any public activities while he is in the Virgin Islands for a five day stay.
Mobile Post Office
The Post Office is opening a post office mobile van service at the West Indian Company Dock on Sunday’s and Holidays. You can purchase stamps, or money orders or send express mail, priority or first class. The mobile van will be open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the West Indian Company Dock.
Coral Bay Phones Back
Coral Bay phone service is back up. VITELCO says they fixed several problems with the fiber optic, a transmitter and network equipment. All of it had to be fixed. The company says they have it licked but they want everyone to monitor the phones to make sure it’s working all right. No more carrier pigeon to Coral Bay.
VITELCO Holiday Schedule
VITELCO also reminds they are closed all day tomorrow and all day the 3rd of January in St. Croix. The repair service hot line at 912 will be open on Both Wednesday and Friday
Court: Bryan Decision OK
Judge Alphonso Andrews dismissed Senator Bryan’s challenge to his censure by the senate. In a 22 page ruling, the judge said the senate was within it’s rights to censure one of its members and did not violate the Organic act or the US Constiutution.
Holiday Events
Tomorrow is a holiday Government offices are all closed, most businesses and stores are closed. There are no lifeguards on duty at Lindberg Beach or Coki Point on New Year’s Day. Tomorrow morning at 4 AM the tramp begins at the Fredreksted Post Office and wind’s its way to Paul Joseph Stadium
Grinch Steals Christmas Lights
The Grinch didn’t steal Christmas, but sure tried. Who stole the extension cord to the East End Lion’s Club Christmas Tree in Four Winds Plaza. How rude. That Christmas tree is there for holiday spirit, for all of us, not as some one’s free extension cord for you alone. Put it back. Ruby Todman of the St. Thomas East End Lions says Shame on you.
