Firefighters Going to Get Training
The Virgin Islands Fire Service believes in training. Carlton Dowe points to the case of LeRoy Hermon Jr. who recently finished training in Florida at the State Fire Marshal’s Bureau of Fire Standards and Training. Dowe also says that neighborhoods are going to see visits from the Fire Service as they host pre-fire training for neighborhood organizations.

Did You See the Change in the Warren E. Brown Apartments?
The Warren E. Brown Apartments were damaged in Hurricane Marilyn and the decision was made to demolish the buildings. There was a time when the shells of the buildings were there, then just the stair wells, now there is a plot of grass where the apartment buildings used to be.
Senate Committee on Government Operations Today
The Senate Committee on Government Operations is meeting today – just about now. They are debating whether the West Indian Company should come under the rules of accounting of government agencies. They also have bills on prison inmates employment, the Medical Examiners office and a Bakery Sanitation Law and another to protect your homestead from any court judgments.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Founder’s Day
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will hold its Founder’s Day Celebration this Weekend. There is a jazz concert on Friday at 6:00 PM at Fort Christian Courtyard. There are workshops on Saturday and a worship service at the Memorial Moravian Church on Sunday then a luncheon at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef on Sunday 779-2550
Democrats Hold Convention – Chinnery Announces
There was a gathering of the Democratic party faithful last night and among the speeches, Wayne Chinnery announced that he will make a run for the Governor’s job as Democrat. Despite their tiny war chest to mount election campaigns, the Democratic faithful said they can win Government House in November.
St. Croix Times Square to Be Transformed
There are new owners today of seven of the dilapidated buildings that comprise Times Square in Christiansted. The St. Croix Community development Foundation bought the seven buildings, paid off the back taxes, and they are beginning the process of designing the rehabilitation of the whole area around Times Square.

On Saturday t he 21st there is a workshop starting at 1:00 PM at Christ Church Methodist at 4:00 PM Caribbean Dance Company is on-stage Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the island center on St. Croix Music is by Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights The regular English teacher for Team D at Addelita Cancaryn Junior High School is ill and some parents are coming forward to help with teaching English. On Saturday from 9 to 11 Mrs. Erma Skelton and Mrs. Jennifer Toussaint will be holding special English classes for Team D. That’s two parents making good news. Carnival Food Fair Subcommittee reminds all vendors and groups that wish to participate in this years food fair need to get their applications back to the office by Friday February 27th. This years food fair is called Miss Lucia’s Treats in honor of Lucia Henley. There is a new art exhibit in red Hook at the Color of Joy/Van Rensselaer Gallery by Aphrodite who is new to the St. Thomas Scene and there are also works by St. Croix artist Judith King. There is an opening reception on February 19th from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Color of Joy/Van Rensselaer Gallery The exhibit will be open through March 16th
