Carnival Queen

We have a new Queen for Carnival. Shaunta Michelle Lindsay is the new Queen – Coronated at a fabulous pageant on Saturday night. All Five contestants were charming, talented and vibrant as they sang and danced their way into the judges hearts. Shaunta took the title with her Charm and grace. She was sponsored by Bennetons and Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina She is a senior at All Saints Cathedral School. Special Thanks for all the sponsors who rose to the occasion despite the economy and gave us a real contest with great contestants.

Greased Pig Contest

What is slippery, runs fast and squeals when it is caught? A greased pig, of course. If you missed the greased pig contest yesterday, you missed a lot of fun. Our own Irvin Brownie Brown MC’ed the pig chase and came up with new categories of chasers for all 20 of the pigs.

We are Number One

Caribbean Travel and Life has named some of our sites the best in the Caribbean. Whim Greathouse on St. Croix is the best Greathouse in the Caribbean. The view from Government House is the Best View in the Caribbean. Carambola is the best golf course. That’s a view up Pillsbury Sound on the cover of the magazine.

Slogan Contest

Lions News

Now of the Lions minute: St. Thomas East Lions There is an election meeting at the Anna’s retreat Senior Citizen Center at 7 PM that’s tonight. Members of the Boards of the Charlotte Amalie Lions and St. Thomas Lions and meeting at Victor’s New Hideout 7 PM to hear from Lions District Governor Lion Herbert Edwards.

Upcoming for Teens

The Department of Education is sponsoring a unity rally for April 22 and 23 from noon to 3 PM at Lionel Robert’s Stadium. On the 22nd, its for the girls. With a celebration of sisterhood. On the 23rd, its the brotherhood hours.

Teacher’s Seminar

Teachers have a chance to participate in a seminar this August on indigenous people of the Caribbean. Today is the deadline. The Virgin Islands Humanities Council is taking applications from teachers to attend the seminar August 16 to 20. Call 776-4044.
