Charlotte Amalie Chicken Hawks are going to England

The Charlotte Amalie Chicken Hawks are going to England for the Bournemouth Easter Parade and to give other performances. The Chicken Hawks opened a Page on the World Wide Web to showcase their trip and seek donations. Their page also highlights the lives of seven famous Virgin Islands musicians.

Platinum Boss – Stay in Jail

No bail reduction for Platinum Construction’s boss in his fraud suit. Sen Hansen said, “The Vultures and Jackals who pose as legitimate contractors but seek only to grow fat off the misewry and suffering of Hurrican victums should be taken and treated as the vermin they are.”

Hurricane Bertha Recovery Over

FEMA announced that Hurricane Bertha recovery centers will close on November the first. As of today, the St. John office is consolidated into St. Thomas. Monday is Virgin Islands Puerto Rico Friendship Day the recovery centers will be closed.

New Commissioner of Finance or Merged Office?

Are they going to merge the Finance Commissioners office with the Bureau of Internal Revenue? Business Journal says yes, both commissioners say no. Meanwhile the Governor has not yet decided how to replace Gwendolyn Adams in the Finance Office. Stay tuned to this one.

VITELCO and Union Agree on Arbitration

Vitelco and the Union have agreed to seek an arbitrator to settle their contract differences. Meanwhile phone service is lacking in parts of St. Croix with no repair in sight. Call us St. Croix when you get phones restored.

Clean up Campaign

The Chamber of Commerce and civic minded business people are making an effort to do an island wide clean up as we enter our first real tourism season since Hurricane Marilyn. It’s not just for visitors, we live here and this is a clean up for us too. We’ll do our part. It’s your Sore Spot Report. Fire Prevention Week

It is fire Prevention Week and The Fire Service is throwing open the doors today with an open house from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Fire Service headquarters downtown.
