EPA to Open Office in Virgin Islands
The US Environmental Protection Agency opened a new office in the US Virgin Islands today. The new office demonstrated EPA’s concern with our environment and support for the Virgin Islands citizens. The office in the Federal Building, Room 142, at 11:30 AM. The EPA Regional administrator, Delegate Christian-Green and Lorraine Berry on hand for the ribbon cutting.

Better Medicine Through the Internet
The Schneider Hospital is opening new facilities to use computerized tele-medicine that will link our hospital on St. Thomas with the medical school at Howard University. The new facility will allow doctors here to consult with doctors there, exchange data and gather advice from experts in Washington. The network will connect to St. Croix and St. John next.
PSC to meet today
The Public Services Commission is meeting Barbel Plaza. About a reduction of the VITELCO phone rates. Senator Donastorg got 14 of the Senators to pass a bill calling for a 20% reduction to redress the special tax deal VITELCO got from the Industrial Development Commission.
Parking Lot Project Protest – Stopped
Work on the parking lot stopped yesterday. The Park Service did not have proper earth moving permits from DPNR. While the Governor and Members of the House want to resurface the parking lot and get title to the land. Delegate Christian-Green says that Department of Interior will not relinquish the land the next step is to plan alternative parking.

Emancipation Roundtable
There is an Emancipation Roundtable coming up on Sunday on St. Croix and Monday at on St. Thomas. The topic is West African Survivals Through the Eyes of Art History and Archeology with Dr Nii Quarcoopme of Ghana. The event is sponsored by the Virgin Islands Humanities Council.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month.
Governor Schneider has declared April Alcohol Awareness Month in the Virgin Islands, saying that alcoholism is one of the most serious health problems in the US and the territories. The economic loss to the American economy has been estimated at 100 million dollars.
Governor Schneider to meet with Mountaintop Association
Governor Schneider will meet with members of the Mountaintop Residents Association on Monday April 6th to discuss their concerns. So far the issues are road maintenance, the commercial antennas and crime watch patrols. The residents are also asking to mapping of the area to help emergency response and clarity on zoning. Northside residents are holding a town meeting at Joseph Sibilly School at 6:00 PM on April 6th
