USVI Launches Summer Super Saver Program

USVI Department of Tourism and Hotel Associations Partner to Provide Savings of up to $1,000

UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS, June 20, 2002 – The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, the St. Croix Hotel and Tourism Association and the St. Thomas/St. John Hotel and Tourism Association are pleased to announce the launch of the “Summer Super Saver” program, which provides guests with savings of up to $1,000.

“This impressive collaboration of efforts from our hotels, tour operators, car rental companies, restaurants and shops is sure to result in another successful summer travel campaign,” stated Commissioner of Tourism Pamela C. Richards. “I am delighted that our island partners are able to provide visitors these tremendous destination-wide travel incentives. The Department of Tourism is committed to providing effective marketing support through our new summer advertising campaign and our long-standing partnerships with prominent tour operators.”

The value-added incentives include: a $100 per person air credit provided by the Department of Tourism; a $100 gift certificate redeemable at Amsterdam Sauer, Colombian Emeralds International, Diamonds International, Jewels, Little Switzerland, or Tanzanite International; fifth-night of accommodations free at participating properties; fifth-day of car rental free at participating agencies; and a coupon booklet worth up to $500 in savings at participating outlets. Free dinners and specialty drinks, free gifts with purchase and shopping discounts are just a few of the value-added incentives included in the coupon book. This incredible summer promotion applies to travel from June 15 to October 31, 2002.

“It is a pleasure to work together to provide a destination-wide savings program,” stated Robert Seifert, President of the St. Croix Hotel and Tourism Association. “This program is one of the most comprehensive in the history of the USVI, and I anticipate nothing but success.”

St. Croix hotels that are participating in this promotion include: The Buccaneer Hotel; Hotel Caravelle; Chenay Bay Beach Resort; Club St. Croix Beach and Tennis Resort; Colony Cove Beach Resort; Cormorant Beach Club; Divi Carina Bay Resort; Frederiksted Hotel; and King Christian Hotel. Participating St. Thomas properties include: Anchorage Beach; Bolongo Bay Beach Club & Villas; Crystal Cove Villas; Holiday Inn Windward Passage; Island Beachcomber; Marriott Frenchman’s Reef; Renaissance Grand Beach Resort; Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina; Sapphire Village; Secret Harbour Beach Resort; and Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa. Car rental agencies that are participating in this promotion include: Avis; Budget; Hertz, St. Croix; Centerline Car Rental, St. Croix; Olympic; and Tri-Island.
