Today is Red Ribbon Decoration Day
Today is Decoration Day in the Red Ribbon campaign. You wear a red ribbon today to indicate your concern with drug abuse. You can put a red ribbon on the car, store window, work place or your lapel. The red ribbon symbolizes your awareness of the illicit drug problem in our community.
National Conversation Comes to St. Thomas
Yesterday was the first video conference in a new project for CAHS students. The National Conversation on American Pluralism and Identity involved a series of video conferences, and on-line conversations carried on through the Internet with a web page and chat rooms. The next video conference is November 20th and the discussions are continuous.
Mock Election results
Mock Election Results are in from the Jane E Tuitt School. The kids voted and gave the delagate position to Victor Frazer. Rocky Liburd was the kids choice for the Senate along with Lorraine Berry, Judy Gomez, Allie-Allison Petrus, Celestino White, Roosevelt David, Stephen Frett and Foncie Donastorg.
Senate Attendance
Teachers take attendance, so does the senate. Who has the best record of being on site for roll calls, votes and quorum calls. Senate President Rocky Liburd tops the list for attendance. Lorraine Berry is next with a nearly unblemished record. Gomex, White, O’Neal and Petrus had records of more than 40% absent. Senator with the Most absence, Senator Hansen.
Molloy Calls it Quits
Claude Molloy announced that he would not return to the senate as the post auditor. In a strongly worded letter to the Sen Bellardo De O’Neal, Molloy cited the unbridled rage of Senator Bryan as one reason for leaving the post. The other was evidence of fraud and abuse in government.
Today’s Meetings
The Dept of Agriculture is holding a meeting for farmers on Plot 111 at 10:00 AM today in Estate Dorothea. The topic is their leases. The senate rules committee is meeting today at 10 AM to consider appointments to the Post Authority Board, and several lease agreements.

Partly Sunny, 20% chance of showers. High around 90, NorthEast wind at 10 to 12 mph. No storms.
This Evening:
This evening is the Take Back the Night candlelight vigil and march. The assembley point is Emancipation Garden at 8PM. Lions East is meeting at 7:30 PM usual place for a special meeting on Family relationships. United Nations Day is being celebrated with a panel discussion on Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States. That’s at 7PM in room T-103 of the Teacher’s Education Building UVI.
Finally This:
Watch them go. The fire service is taking care of some abandoned buildings. The abandoned building across from Friendley’s Bar in Savan is the first to go and that could tie up traffic in Savan. Our Fire service making St. Thomas more beautiful is good news.
