THE GOVERNOR IS GETTING OUR TOP HONOR TODAY

Governor Roy Lester Schneider will be honored in a special ceremony today. The senate will conferred the Medal of Honor on the Governor at 10 AM in a ceremony in the senate chambers. Dr. Schneider is the first governor to receive this high honor while in office. You can hear the ceremony live on WSTA.

Money from FEMA

FEMA is sending 10 million dollars in a loan to cover the non-federal share of the recovery funds. 3.3 million will go to the Individual and family grant program. Other funds will help whit mitigation.

Crime hideout gone

Here’s good news, those derelict abandoned buildings on lower Kronprinsens gade are gone. Under heavy police guard, the shacks were reduced to rubble and that’s one more place that has been denied to criminals and drug users.

Lights Fine Tuned

Tyrone Martin said that the work on the waterfront traffic lights will be complete tomorrow. You will be able to cruise at 20 MPH from Windward Passage to Ft Christian Parking Lot and get no red lights. Thanks to Mr. Rick Dunmyer from Econolight for fine tuning the system. Pedestrians please note, there are working pedestrian light at each intersection, When you walk, use the lights, for your safety.

Montserrat Donations

The Montserrat donations are up to 400 cartons. They are still seeking more bedding, sheets, pillows and personal hygiene products. The USO Building is the drop off site. The volcano has been calm over the last 24 hours. The Montserrat Association is meeting Sunday at Victor’s New Hideout at 5 PM

Education Committee Acts

The Education Committee passed the Violence Prevention act on to the Rules committee yesterday. They also passed the Dropout prevention act, but held the parent participation plan for more amendments.
