American Airlines Inaugurates New Service

Tomorrow is the day American Airlines will inaugurate new daily non-stop service between St. Thomas And Miami. The new service will be a daily flight and special fares are also available for senior citizens.

It is Flag Day, Tomorrow is Father’s Day

The Father’s Day village in Frenchtown is open now and the village is open through Monday. Today the music begins at 6:00 PM – Lashing Dogs will play. From 10 PM to 2AM it’s the Sea Breeze band. Sunday’s music begins with Smalls and the Music Makers at 2:00 PM – then Under Pressure from 5 to 10 PM then through 2 AM it’s Imaginations Brass. On Monday, from 4 to 7 PM it’s Smalls and the Music Makers and from 7:00 PM – to midnight it is Milo and the Kings and the Kings.

Brush Fire Quickly Stopped

The Fire Service deserves high praise for quickly stopping that brush fire yesterday in Donoe area near the old drive In theater. The fire service under the direction of Benjamin Santana fought the fire without the team who are in Las Vegas at the Olympics. The fire fighters on duty plus all off duty fire fighters used an old access road to get in front of the fire and fight it from above. Gus Dowling was on hand and reported the fire under control.

Antilles School held Graduation

It was the smallest class in years but with over a half million dollars in scholarships and 100% going to college, this High School class is setting records. Jared Shomo, a National Merit Scholarship finalist had six words for the students, responsibility, awareness, communication, reaction, attitude and consciousness.

Governor approves 5.5 million for Harwood Clinic

Governor Schneider announced the approval of 5.5 million to begin construction of a building to relocate the Charles Harwood Clinic on St. Croix. The Gov. said fixing old buildings is not enough. Wee want to give our people the best facilities we can provide for them. Schneider approved the use of 5.5 million to initiate the construction. The Gov. also asked all staff of the Harwood clinic to brainstorm new ideas that could improve the facility.

Department of Agriculture Staff Does the Work

The Department of Agriculture facilities on St. Croix needed fixing, and the Governor praised the staff for doing the fix up with their own time and labor. The government bought the materials and the Governor thanked the staff for investing their time in their building.

Phone Survey

The Dept. of Health is beginning a telephone survey about chronic disease prevention. The telephone survey will run from today through July 25th between 10:00 AM – and 2:00 PM – and again from 5:00 PM – to 9:00 PM – Please cooperate and support this telephone survey.

It is free call 773-1211 to pre-register. Virgin Islands Retired Police Officers are holding a Father’s Day special breakfast brunch Sunday at Percy’s Bus Stop from 8:00 AM – to it ends.

Mrs. Globe Contest.

Senator Judy Gomez praised for the reigning Mrs. Globe Tracy Kemble and thanked pageant promoters for choosing the Virgin Islands to host the pageant. They raise funds for non-profit organizations and to send Virgin Islands Youth to the Summer Youth Games in NY. The pageant is coming up on June 21st at the Reichhold Center for the Performing Arts Come cheer on our own Mrs. Linda Booker James who is the Virgin Islands contestant for Mrs. Globe.

Gospel In Paradise Coming

Plan to come to the Virgin Islands for Gospel in Paradise July 3-6 in St. Thomas US Virgin Islands.
