No Double Sessions this School Season
The modular classrooms project at Lockhart, Peace Corps and Berthe C. Boschulte School are all on schedule. The contractors are on the job and the schools with the major damage all have contractors working. A temporary cafeteria for Cancaryn is being built. Oliver school, Gomez school and all others are under repair. Smooth progress says Liston Davis.
Aid for Unemployed
The Labor department has a new program for those who lost their job as a result of the storm and the self employed. Disaster Unemployment Assistance is now available. You have only 30 days to file for assistance so do it today. Bring you tax returns, business license and old 1040, Taxi drivers bring your ID Badge.
Red Cross Damage Estimate
Red Cross public affairs spokesperson Debbi Pfitzenmaier said the damage estimates are all in. St. Thomas was better than her worst fears. Outreach workers are now going door to door to examine needs. The Red Cross phone is 714-1015.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee hearings are continuing., WAPA, Department of Tourism and Public Works all failed to appear during their hearing times. The Inspector General said his 783 thousand dollar budget isn’t enough to do all the audits he has to perform.

St. Thomas St. John Cable says only two miles of cable came down as compared with Hurricane Marilyn when they lost 90 miles of cable. The cable is back up and normal installations begin today.
