Today is Good Friday
You are reminded that today is Good Friday – a high holy event in the Christian Calendar – the day we remember that Christ was crucified on the cross. Local law forbids the sale of alcoholic beverages between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM tomorrow The fine is $200 which is a lot to pay for a drink. The Post office on St. John will be closed today. Vitelco will be closed, so are all local government offices and the banks are also closed for Good Friday.

Easter Messages Come in
There are a number of Holy week messages coming into WSTA. Senator Petrus extends his greeting to the Virgin Islands community with a message of peace and love in the Easter Season. Delegate Christian-Green has also sent her message for Easter noting that Christians, Moslems and Jews all have high holy days in this season. We are all Gods Children and entitled to a life of dignity, spiritual and intellectual growth, fulfillment and the pursuit of happiness. Senator Vargrave Richards Says this is the time we emerge from the Lenten period of denial and sacrifice and celebrate the resurrection of Christ. He reminds everyone to set aside time to thank the Almighty for all our blessings.
What’s Coming Up – Canon in Christiansted
The work crews removing the asphalt paving in the Christiansted wharf area were surprised to discover a canon deep in the earth under the parking lot. The canon is a variety that is unusual in the Virgin Islands and considered historically important. Who knows what else will come up under the parking lot.
Immigration and Naturalization Service Plans Commuter Pass
Immigration and Naturalization Service told Rotary members yesterday that they are working on creating a new high tech pass to allow travelers between the British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands without having to go through the usual paperwork.

The Virgin Islands Housing Authority is pleased to announce that Ilva Wesselhof of George Simmons Terrace and Marilyn Frances are now home owners on St. John.
Wayne James Taking Middle Passage Project to the United Nations
You already know about the Middle Passage Monument and our Local Wayne James is a leading advocate of the monument to all who dies between Africa and the new World. Well now Waybe James is going to take his campaign to the United Nations. He will be briefing Ambassadors at the United Nations later this year. He thinks that the project will help reunite black people all over the world.
BCB to Test Middle School Concept.
The incoming class of sixth graders who would go to the E. Benjamin Oliver School will attend Berthe C. Boschulte School beginning this coming school year the idea is to group sixth graders with 7th and 8th graders and begin the new block scheduling with the 6th grade.

Noon Sunday SPARKS will hold their 5th annual Easter Parade on Sunday April 12th at noon at the Legislature Building. – There’s an Easter bonnet Contest, entertainment and door prizes. Lunch – all free. 693-3536
Water Island Report
Water Island Christian Assembly has an Easter Concert and Communion Service at Honeymoon Beach at 9:00 AM. Baptism is available. There’s a special ferry from Crown Bay Marina at 8:00 AM and return at 12:30 PM
