Skyline Drive Development Stopped

Max Carty thought he was going to develop a tourist destination and scenic lookout high atop skyline drive. He even had special zoning exceptions until yesterday’s Senate session. They debated all morning because there were no public hearings on the development. The senators reversed the spot zoning and restored residential zoning to the whole section of skyline drive in Wintberg. In related news, the Senate is finally going to get to examine the Comprehensive Land Use Plan in a series of public hearings April 8 on St. John, April 15th on St. Thomas and April 17th on St. Croix.

Senate Meeting Today

The Senate is meeting in full session today. This morning they debated the bill to eliminate the government’s funding for the administrative costs of the Government Employees Retirement System and passed the bill 13 in favor, two not voting.

Delegate to Give Convocation Address

Delegate Christian-Green will be the main speaker at the 36th anniversary Charter Day Convocation at the UVI. She had high praise for the university and cited all the growth that has occurred in 36 years.

Highway Work Making Progress

Tyrone Martin called to say they are paving Frenchman’s Bay road today and stay off please. Also they are painting the stripes in Old Tutu on Route 384 and you can not park there today while they paint the road side stripes.

New Store in Tutu

There’s a new store on the block called Value Furniture across from the Tutu Park Mall entrance and they have are just opening with a wide assortment of new furniture and highly competitive prices. That’s a new furniture store in Tutu next to O’Henry’s Dry Cleaning.

Ulla Muller School PTA is sponsoring workshops on tax assistance and for Mother’s raising Sons, but the raffle has been postponed. Until the next PTA meeting. April 15th 6:00 PM µ Small Business Development Center has a program on Preparing your Business Tax on Wednesday March 18th at 6:00 PM at Gertrude’s Restaurant. St. Thomas Democrats General membership meeting at Windward Passage All St. Thomas Boy Scout leaders and district committee members the Boy Scout meeting planned for last wed is being held tonight at 6:00 PM at the Boy Scout building on the waterfront. CAHS Class of 1988 will meet at 6:00 PM at the Conference Room of the Legislature. Virgin Islands Toastmasters Club 4040U is meeting at the Chamber of Commerce Conference room at 6:00 PM Tomorrow – Joseph Sibilly School will be closed March 19th for the staff to attend an important workshop.
