Prince and Princess Selected
They had to struggle through several rain storms, tough competition and through the difficulties came the victors. The first runner ups in the Prince and Princess Competition was Annalise Setorie and Dimitri Maduro who were also judged Most Photogenic and Top Intellect. The winners of the competition were Asia Hill and Orlando Amaro and also had the best formal wear and best Talent too.

Madras Cloth Available
Madras Cloth is a tradition in the Virgin Islands and in honor of the 150th Anniversary of Emancipation Commemoration there is a sale of Madras cloth on sale this Sunday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in Emancipation Garden. And on Sunday Bradley Christian – the famous St. Croix Quadrille Caller will be showing many different uses for Madras cloth.
Tutu Park Mall Celebrates Carnival
In the spirit of Carnival, Tutu Park Mall has decided to play the carnival calypso songs over the Public Address System – they are asking all bands performing in Carnival to bring their tapes to Tutu Park Mall. IN other Carnival News, the 1998 Carnival Souvenir Booklets are available with photos, facts, and Carnival history. They are available at Carnival headquarters and all the usual record stores and ticket outlets.
Centeno Says Newspaper got it Wrong.
Juan Centeno, the Finance Commissioner says he was misquoted in the newspaper. While the commissioner said we may need a freeze on non-essential vendor services, he did not say that we should stop obtaining critical resources like medicines, utilities, janitorial services, leases and other expenses. We can not put the community at risk Centeno said.
Team Caribbean in New Zealand
This is a warm up for the America’s Cup Challenge racing and our Team Caribbean is in New Zealand to sail against many of the teams that will compete in the America’s Cup. Peter Holmberg has his local team there and won their frist race against the Italian team and lost the next race to the French Team. The Team C Team is composed of Peter Holmberg the skipper, Benm Beer, Dave Dutcher, Ian Exton, Maurice Krug, Morgan Avery and John Cutler of St. Thomas. From St. John come team mates Ernest Mattian and Mark James. Phillip Barnard joined the team from St. Vincent, Clint Brooks of Barbados and Kiko Dalmau of Puerto Rico. The Team is sponsored by American Airliens and GANT USA.
