Hurricane Erika is History
That storm is history. And we are all limbered up in the storm rehearsal of the season. There are no reports of injuries and no substantial property loss. We had winds of about 50 MPH and a lot of rain, but there are no reports of significant damage.
That was a good storm to practice all of our hurricane skills and systems. Now you know how ready you really are. It is common for a rumor to spread of a second storm coming on the heels of the first. There is a well-organized westward-moving tropical wave located about midway between Africa and the lesser Antilles, the upper-level winds are not favorable for development at this time. There is no second storm coming.

Water Island Report
Water Island actually lost power during yesterday’s storm. WAPA officials came over to see why since none of the rest of the St. Thomas feeders lost power. It seems we blew a fuse. Isn’t that typical of Water Island, we don’t even have circuit breakers for this island, just a bunch of fuses. I wonder if they stuck a penny in the socket as a stop gap measure until we can get more fuses. Fuses.
