Honor Millin
There was a gathering to remember St. John’s Lucinda Millin Tuesday at the Senior Citizens Home which bears her name. This August 26th would have been Miss Millin’s 105th birthday. Among her admirers, attorney Edith Borne said “she was an image no one feared”, an image everyone respected. During her lifetime Miss Millin taught school, founded the St. Thomas Women’s League. Which later became the League of Women Voters and led the drive to establish a senior citizens home on St. Thomas. Miss Millin’s birthday celebration falls on the same day people in the United States celebrate the birth of Susan B. Anthony. Another champion of women’s voting rights.
