Hotel Association Sets Charter Flights
As part of their efforts to restore the territory to its status as one of the world’s most popular destinations. The St. Thomas-St. John Hotel Association has reportedly entered an agreement with Hot Spot tours of New York to provide charger flights throughout the winter tourist season. Marty Kauffman, president and owner of Hot Spot says he will enlist his primary carrier Kiwi International Airlines to provide dedicated charter flights between Newark Airport and Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas between December 20 and April 26. Kaufman said he expects to deliver more than 3,000 visitors to the territory using charter service

Magen’s Bay
After a brief delay, work is scheduled to resume on restoring the picnic sheds at Magen’s Bay. Public Works Commissioner Lindell Williams said the work is being continued with the help of the Department of Finance which stepped in when funds provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency ran out. The commissioner said new V.I. building codes issued after Hurricane Marilyn apply even to beach sheds and the cost of meeting those coded exceeded the FEMA allotment. Plans call for the restored beach sheds to be built with concrete columns, new bond beams and roofing in compliance with the building code
Parolees
Attorney General Julio Brady wants to advise the public about a series of parole board hearings scheduled for August 28, 9:30 am at the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility on St. Croix. Parole will be consdered for the following inmates: Kenneth Creese, Raphael Perez-Davis, Clayton Griffin, Lennox LeBlanc, Luis A. Lopez, Felicita Parrilla, Alexander Petersen, Jr. and Jose Rivera. Anyone intersted in providing the parole board with information concerning the eligility of these inmates for parole is asked by the attorney general to do so 24 hour prior to the hearing date. Comments and requests should be sent to Mr. Darien Wheatlye Parole Baord Coordinator at the V.I. Department of Justice.
Yacht Show
Over 100 charter yacht brokers are expected to come to Yacht Haven Marina for the All Caribbean Charter yacht Show sheduled for November organizers say the show is designed to provide a worldwide network of charter brokers the opportunity to see the yachts and meet the crews so they can advise their clients on what’s new in the yachting market. More than 60 luxury yachts are expected to be featured at that St. Thomas yacht show.
Navy Call
Meanwhile British Virgin Islanders living in the USVI have were advised of pending there will be more Navy liberty calls to the Virgin Islands in November large scale naval exercises are scheduled for the region that month. When they’re done commander Stark said the crews of at least one large ship and a few smaller ships may pay port calls on the territory.

Homeowners are invited to Boulon Center from 9am to 4:30 pm to hear more and ask questions. The V.I. Port Authority governing board meets Thursday on St. John 10 am at the Local Culinary in Cruz Bay.
