Ruth Cruz to Estate Mon Bijou

In an effort to bring more responsiveness to government, Officials from Government House went to a Town Meeting at Estate Mon Bijou. Ruth Cruz, the governor’s community research analyst is actively implementing an island wide community survey to focus and hear problems and concerns of residents.

Windstorm Payout

The governor has instructed the Windstorm authority to issue checks to all parties whose insurance claims have been settled. Schneider said, “Commence the payout.”

UVI Board Members

Jeffrey Prosser and Bernard Paiewonsky are on their way the UVI Board of Trustees as the Rules Committee passed their nominations to the whole legislature. Both said that new scholarships and new programs are critical to the university.

Pay Your Taxes

Pay your taxes or you can’t renew your business license. The Commissioner Vera Falu said they are forbidden from issuing business licenses unless a company files and paid all taxes due.

US Air to St. Croix

USAir’s first flight came to St. Croix yesterday and Gov Schneider was on hand to welcome the first fliers. He asked US Air to initiate shuttle service between San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Croix to enhance competition.

HUD Grants

There are grants available for neighborhood project that target low & medium income people. Housing and Urban Development community block grant program is looking for your ideas. Write up your idea and take it to the DPNR. The deadline is February 29.

Food Fair

Community Calendar: The food fair is coming this weekend at Estate Lower Love St. Croix, There is a rich program of activities including a salute to the farmers, educational exhibits showcasing entrepreneurs, tree pruning,m drip irrigation, tree grafting and a roast pig demonstration. Come to the fair it is guaranteed fun for everyone, except the pig.

Spelling Bee Champ

Finally this: 11 year old Luciana Roberts is on her way to the Big Spelling Bee. She won the spelling bee at the Jane E. Tuitt School by spelling the word EXTINGUISH correctly to become the school’s spelling champion. That’s Luciana Roberts good news.
